Social Creatures
This Indie Rock/Electronic band made us late to our broadcast of the daily livestream because they were so good at Musikfest; a true “Best of the Fest” for 2023 for sure.
In This Episode
- Jono and Daniel take a break from the studio to talk to us from the car. They needed somewhere quiet!
- They were selected by the Charter Arts class participating in the Musikfest Marketing program put on by ArtsQuest with area high schools. Their sound is something that everyone is enjoying.
- We’ll share their songs “Half The Keys”, “Nothing Changes”, and some live footage we snagged during Musikfest that you’ll want to see, and play their release from just last Friday (3/1/2024) “Fly The Loop”.
Biography
Brooklyn-based SOCIAL CREATURES has been described as “Cosmic, new-age disco with the same synth-sparked beats that burn through the music of bands like Depeche Mode, New Order and Joy Division—yet with hints of the sounds of 21st century indie rock bands like Beach House.” by Bushwick Daily.
The four-piece features Canadian singer/multi-instrumentalist Jono Robertson, guitarist Daniel Lazari, bassist Jacob Ott and drummer John Patrick Roach. Formed in 2018, the band is equal parts danceable and vulnerable with bursts of hard rock.
Stuffed with analog synths, nostalgic guitar riffs and eccentric grooves, they released their self-titled debut album in 2022 via BonFire Records. The band has since hit the road on a national tour including sharing bills with acts like They Might Be Giants, The Allman Betts Band, The Wild Things, and more.
