Velvet Rouge
Ready for some gypsy-soul rock-n-roll?? You’re going to love the music and the conversation with Gina Zo of Velvet Rouge.
In This Episode
- Gina’s been singing and dancing pretty much since she could start to talk and walk. She began writing songs as soon as she was gifted a guitar, and immediately began prospecting with venues for gigs, showing a willingness for the grind.
- At 17 she auditioned for The Voice and made it to the show on Team Blake and received coaching from Gwen Stefani, which you can see homage to in her performances.
- Off of the success of the show, she was able to sign with a label, however here she experiences the darker side of the industry but takes a break from singing, writing and performing. Luckily for us, she eventually gets motivated to “get the band back together” and now called Velvet Rouge
- Recently Gina came out as bi-sexual, and is an advocate for being your most genuine self, and released the anthemic “Faking It” about the struggles with navigating that. Happy Pride!
- A Live performance from Gina of “Shattered” which is releasing the same day as this interview. This accompanies the previously released summer power jam “Lonely Since The Day We Met”, with the full EP coming out on 7/26 and EP release show at Johnny Brenda’s on 7/27!
