Tonight we take a moment to reflect, remember and honor some musicians that left us too early. Recently I learned of Christine Havrilla’s passing after a battle with cancer. And I was struck by this news and the fact that she was on my list to reach out to about possibly coming on this show. I was saddened that I had not done that sooner and now missed the opportunity.
And I remembered others who also left us too soon who I wished I had the chance to speak to. Some who passed years before I had a show like Ted Hawkins or Josh Clayton-Felt of School of Fish; and others who more recently like Justin Townes Earle and Karl Wallinger of World Party.
Each of these brilliant musicians leaves their legacy for us to still listen to and enjoy, and in fact could become your next favorite band.
Music in this episode:
00:09:15 – “The Good and The Bad” by Ted Hawkins
00:16:25 – “3 Strange Days” by School of Fish
00:25:01 – “The Good Life” by Justin Townes Earle
00:29:30 – “Way Down Now” by World Party
00:36:56 – “Fortune Teller” by Christine Havrilla & Gypsy Fuzz
I’ve decided to still try to dedicate an episode to share the stories and the music of these artists and I’ve started research out to see if there are people connected to them and can help us put it out there. If you’re able to help contribute or introduce us to someone who can, please let us know.
Hope you like this episode, and remember to seize the moment.
