She’s has stunningly gorgeous vocals that are laid on top of a bed of industrial fuzz. This effort to juxapose counterintuitive aesthetics is brilliantly executed.

In This Episode

I love when you discover music that just scratches that part of brain that wants to listen. Cutting edge and fresh, but yet also calling back to that familiar sound of shoe-gazey grunge – Meg Elsier has just released some crazy great music on her album Spittake.

And on top of all that, she’s a pleasure to talk to. In our interview, we learn about her inspirations growing up, discuss her anxiety around recording and releasing music, and how she was able to get more of what she wanted by involving others in the process. We also explore the dynamic of having both Asian and White heritage (her mom is Korean and her dad is American) and ways that has shaped her.

We’ll share the powerful tracks “ifshitfuq”, “iznotreal”, and “forlyleinsanfrancisco”. Enjoy!
