Biography
Dave Hill is a comedian, writer, musician, and actor originally from Cleveland but now living in New York City. He has written for The New York Times, The Paris Review, Salon, GQ, McSweeney’s, Guitar World, and the Cleveland Plain Dealer among other publications. He is a regular contributor to public radio’s This American Life and Live from Here and has hosted his own podcast The Dave Hill Goodtime Hour (formerly known as both Dave Hill’s Podcasting Incident and The Goddamn Dave Hill Show on WFMU). Dave has appeared on Comedy Central, BBC America, MTV, and Adult Swim among others and is a regular host on HBO and Cinemax. Dave performs live comedy in theaters and basements across the globe. He also plays guitar and sings in his own rock band Valley Lodge whose song “Go” is the theme to HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, as well as the psychedelic rock band Painted Doll and the mostly imaginary Norwegian Black Metal Band Witch Taint.
Dave is the author of four books, starting with Tasteful Nudes in 2012 and his most recent The Awesome Game: One Man’s Incredible, Globe-Crushing Hockey Odyssey published in 2023
